WE HAVE THE POWER TO DESIGN THE OCEAN WE WANT

The world is by design.
We’re designing a better one. A bluer one.

We challenged young designers (under 25) to create a poster that:

– Captures the attention of a moving audience
– Empowers the viewer to take Ocean action
Has a powerful, memorable design.

We received 31 entries.
Our expert judging panel selected 3 winners.

Thank you to everyone who participated and congratulations to our winners (in no particular order) Eeman Ariké Lawal, Haleema Aziz, and Amy McPherson.

    Eeman Ariké Lawal

Eemam is a 19 year-old Nigerian artist undertaking an undergraduate in Illustration and anticipates graduating in 2025.

    Inspiration:

The poster answers the question people often ask regarding Ocean conservation: “Why should we care?

    Inspiration:

Her inspiration is the increasing levels of pollution and waste in our Ocean.

There is a growing need for individuals to take action and raise awareness. She is committed to making a positive difference and doing her part to protect the world we live in and love.

  • Design your Ocean Winner Amy McPherson

    Behind the poster:
    Amy McPherson

Amy is a 23-year-old designer who creates tactile mixed media illustrations for publishing and editorial contexts, using traditional media as well as printmaking processes and (occasionally) digital drawing.

Reoccurring themes within her work include film, food and figurative character-based motifs. She enjoys working with stories, fiction and non-fiction, and bringing them to life in engaging ways through illustration

    Inspiration:

She aimed to communicate the issue of Ocean plastic pollution by collaging fish with plastic bags [and playing on a sensational slogan], to drive home what is causing so much damage.
