Rovio & Ocean Generation

The Big Catch

/

Utilising enormous gaming platforms provides Ocean Generation with a dynamic way to communicate to and engage Generation Z with a topic they care deeply about and 3 billion users have installed the Angry Birds app so far. Interestingly, the same number of people depend on marine and coastal biodiversity for their livelihoods.

The game is designed to encourage the user to collect as many plastic pollutants as possible, contributing towards a collective target to remove 1 million lbs of virtual plastic. Once the game is completed, players will be directed through to the WATO website and invited to make a personal commitment with regard to their use of damaging plastics such as plastic straws or plastic bags.

Daisy Kendrick, Ocean Generation Founder: “Everyone at Ocean Generation is very excited about the launch of our first gaming concepts. It’s one of our most important and influential initiatives and a tangible sign that we’re starting to turn our ideas into realities. Ocean Generation is all about providing opportunities to learn about ocean sustainability and we can’t wait to start making a difference through the universal and unifying language of gaming.”
